Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position on a 5 West unit in Birmingham, AL, requiring 2+ years of experience and an AL or compact RN license.

• Day shift position, 06:30–19:15, three 12-hour shifts per week
• 41-bed Med/Surg unit caring for oncology, neuro, and palliative care patients
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Alaris IV pumps used on the unit
• Epic EMR
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required, including to facilities within a 25-mile radius
• 13-week contract based in Birmingham, AL
• Provides nursing care to a mixed Med/Surg population including oncology, neurological, and palliative care patients
• Navy scrubs required; fleece is not permitted
• Certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of start date — proof of enrollment in a renewal class is acceptable

• Active AL or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification (AHA only — American Red Cross not accepted)
• Current NIHSS certification (AHA only) required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Proficiency in patient assessment, IV insertion, Foley insertion, and NGT placement required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
