Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Med/Surg Observation Step Down position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent experience and cardiology/med-surg background.

Job Details

• Located on the 2 West floor of a 595-bed acute care hospital in Birmingham, AL,

• Observation Step Down unit with 30 beds and a 1:6 patient ratio,

• Patient population includes pre- and post-heart catheterization, general cardiology (chest pain, hypertension), and general med/surg cases,

• Standard acute care equipment used; EMR is Cerner,

• Day shift: 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM (36 hours/week),

• Schedule includes every other weekend,

• No on-call requirements,

• Travelers are first to float,

Job Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration,

• Current BLS certification required (AHA accepted; American Red Cross is not accepted),

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (AHA only),

• Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg or cardiology RN experience required,

• Cerner EMR experience preferred,

• Cardiology experience preferred; acute care skills required,

• Candidate's SSN and DOB are required for consideration,

• Care for a mix of observation and step-down patients including cardiology and general med/surg cases,

• Navy scrubs required,
