Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position at a hospital in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an AL or compact RN license.

• Night shift position, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract
• Located on a 41-bed Med/Surg unit (5 West)
• Patient population includes med/surg, oncology, neuro, and palliative care
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Uses Alaris IV pumps
• EMR:
  Epic
• 36 hours per week
• Every third weekend required
• Floating required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Cares for a diverse patient population including med/surg, oncology, neurological, and palliative care patients
• Preferred candidates will have a med/surg background
• Navy scrubs required; fleece is not permitted
• Joint Commission-accredited facility recognized for stroke care, cardiovascular services, rehabilitation, bariatrics, and surgical care
• Faith-based organization managed in partnership with Orlando Health

• Active AL or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA accepted; American Red Cross is NOT accepted)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg experience
• Proficiency in patient assessment, IV insertion, Foley insertion, and NGT placement
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
