Position Overview

  • Pay range: $30.00 - $48.00 / hour
  • Shifts:

    full-time and part-time AM and PM, weekends AM and PM, flexi/PRN
  • Schedules: 7 a.m.

    -7 p.m., 7 p.m.

    -7 a.m.

Job Highlights

The Hospitalist 4 Unit is a 31-bed acute care unit that treats a variety of medical and surgical patients with a strong focus on infectious disease. Unique patient types include those receiving Radioiodine I-131 treatment for thyroid conditions. UAB Hospital Medicine was the first hospital medicine program in Alabama and the Southeast, caring for the largest group of patients discharged from UAB Medicine.

Job Description

To utilize the nursing process to care and/or counsel individuals in promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury. Using a systematic critical-thinking approach to guide assessment, nursing judgment, intervention and evaluation of human responses through activities such as health teaching, counseling and provision of care supportive of life and peaceful death. Identify patient needs using the AACN Synergy Model.

Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care for patients, families and community timely and cost-effective. Deliver patient care in collaboration with patients, families and entire healthcare team, with knowledge of licensed physician, psychologist, podiatrist, or dentist.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred. Work experience does not substitute for education. For free‑standing emergency department, one year of emergency or ICU nursing experience required. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as RN by Alabama State Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA required or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Depending on unit, ACLS and/or PALS may be required.
