RN - Registered Nurse – Callahan – Ambulatory Surgery Position Overview

Schedules: 6 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse reports directly to the ASU Nursing Supervisor. The RN provides professional nursing care in the assigned area based on individual patient needs, medical plan, and in accordance with established nursing standards and administrative policy. The RN utilizes the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team to coordinate quality patient care.
The RN participates in maintaining unit organization, staff development conferences and programs, guides and teaches auxiliary personnel, assists in orientation of new staff members, and performs other related duties as necessary. The RN also participates on teams created to improve outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.
- Current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Two years of prior clinical experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing; prior PAR/Critical Care experience preferred.
- Experience in Ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, and diabetes preferred.
- BLS certification required by the end of the employee provisional period.
- ACLS and PALS certification required within one year of employment.
