In Med Surg Dearth at Main Campus Dearth Tower
Work schedule will be Full-time on the Evening Night Shift shift, 7P-7A Monday-Friday varying nights with every other weekend.
SummaryResponsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients in accordance with prescribed hospital policy under the direction of the R.N.
Other Information- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with parents and families; must demonstrate knowledge of medical equipment required in specific units; must have ability to work with patient charts, nursing care plans and computers.
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
- 2 years experience preferred; experience in pediatrics preferred.
- BCLS certified.
- Current Alabama LPN Licensure required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse AL Only or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
- Licensed Practical Nurse AL NLC Multi State
- Licensed Practical Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State
- Basic Life Support
- Associate of Science Nursing in Nursing
The Dearth Tower is made up of three 15-bed pediatric med/surg units that are located on 5 Dearth, 6 Dearth, and 7 Dearth in the McWane building of Children’s of Alabama. Most Dearth Tower patients are admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) physicians. Common diagnoses seen on the Dearth Tower are asthma exacerbation, bronchiolitis/RSV, pneumonia, cellulitis/abscess, neonate with fever, dehydration, gastroenteritis, s/p tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and bilateral myringotomy tubes.
Average length of stay for our patients is about 2 days
