Heavy Equipment Operator

Shear Worx has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator who is willing to travel regularly. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for running a 250 or 350 sized excavator with a shear attachment. Employee will be preparing (cutting up) scrap metal at off‑site locations to a size that is acceptable to the steel mill of the customer’s choice.

The primary material to be prepared will be steel rail cars but will also include aluminum rail cars and miscellaneous “yard‑scrap”.

Compensation Range: $750 – $1500 Weekly (based on experience).

• Experience running an excavator with a second member shear attachment (this is a must have).
• Understands the limits & safe operation of a shear.
• Working knowledge of the metal preparation process.
• Provide personal transportation to multiple sites.
• Willingness to travel frequently (+75%) (Company reimbursed fuel, hotel & meals via per diem).
• Must have a cell phone and be willing to use it for company communication.

• 5+ years’ experience working with rail cars.
• Possess leadership skills (2‑4 people).
• Ability to operate related equipment (material handler, forklift, excavator w/ thumb, & etc.).
• Mechanically inclined with ability to diagnose minor mechanical issues.
• Ability & knowledge to change more mechanical repair components.
• Working understanding of hydraulic systems on equipment.
