Associate, Maintenance – Avient Corporation

Position is responsible for complete work order requests to build and repair equipment as quickly and accurately as possible while keeping associated costs to a minimum. Also responsible for preventive maintenance assignments, maintaining all equipment in good operating condition to meet the plant’s goals.

• Complete electrical projects; design and install.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems and correct as required; read electrical schematics.
• Troubleshoot mechanical devices in operation; dismantle, examine and remove defective parts; adjust functional parts and repair or replace defective parts.
• Set up and operate shop machinery such as drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder, etc.; use hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
• Install or repair/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
• Operate the cooling water system.
• Research supplies, parts and machines needed to complete work orders.
• Order parts on the company computer system.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
• Perform and document work orders and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Maintain workload and assignments; complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, etc.
• Support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
• Follow applicable Safety, Health and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing any procedure.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Requires standing, sitting, walking, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and climbing of steps and ladders.
• Must be able to use hands to handle and feel objects or manipulate controls; talk, see and hear.
• Typically work is in a plant environment where the noise level is high.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds.
• The environment is typically dusty and includes many toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Work environment includes many pieces of hazardous moving equipment.
• Requires safety equipment such as safety glasses, shoes, ear plugs, respirator, face shield, chemical suit, etc.
• Work could be inside or outside; typical noise level is loud.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, vibration; occasionally to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
