Summary
The Senior Specialist, Benefits is responsible for administering and maintaining the benefit programs for the organization including medical, dental, vision, life, disability plans, 401(k), voluntary benefits. This position may work directly with employees and/or third-party representatives to respond to inquiries and concerns regarding benefits plans.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Resolve employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures in an effective, efficient, and engaging manner.
- Serve as a backup for leave of absence administration.
- Manage and monitor government orders (e.g. Medical Child Support Orders) and input requests into the system.
- Manages open enrollment for benefits, including preparation of open enrollment materials and announcements, system configuration, and system testing.
- Analyze best trends and practices for corporate benefits strategy to meet organizational goals.
- Partner on internal communication strategy for education and awareness surrounding benefits to employees.
- Maintain records of benefits and some human resources invoices as well as processing and submitting invoices.
- Update and maintain the HRIS systems, including ensuring file feeds are working correctly from the HRIS systems to vendors, ensuring data integrity in the HRIS database with daily maintenance of carrier files, resolving data errors, and updating data.
- Process all monthly benefit premium invoices for approval and payment, and scans documents for retention; ensures timely payment to vendors; initiates monthly reconciliation of benefit plan deductions by validating/correcting inaccuracies between HRIS and vendor systems.
- Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
- Support the Wellness Program design enhancements and implementation.
- Manage the company Benefits inbox.
- Function as the benefit subject matter expert, guiding team members and ensuring smooth operations.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 5 - 7 years of related experience.
- Workday HRIS with Benefits module experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with benefit filings, such as 1095 and 5500 reporting.
- Experience designing or enhancing wellness programs is strongly valued.
- CEBS, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications, data query tools, word processing software, electronic mail, and internet search tools.
- Driving execution, quality orientation (attention to detail), and process management.
