Lead Cath Lab Technologist – Full‑Time Day – UAB Medicine

Schedule:
Four 10‑hour shifts per week, on‑call 8 days per 5 weeks (includes a weekend every 5 weeks).
Work location:
UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham.

Responsibilities- Serve as a technical resource to other technicians; provide leadership and guidance in daily tasks.
- Prepare staff work schedule, coordinate employee time off, and conduct orientation with appropriate documentation.
- Admit and orient patients to the cath lab using a pre‑procedural checklist, enter patient information into the database, hemodynamic, and x‑ray systems, and explain procedures and equipment to patients and/or significant others.
- Function as a scrub assistant, establish and maintain a sterile field, and follow infection control guidelines.
- Operate EKG, x‑ray, and hemodynamic equipment to monitor patient vitals and intervene when physiological status changes.
- Interact with patients to ensure comfort and safety, monitor vital signs, maintain procedural documentation, set up equipment, run blood oximetry, and assist with diagnostic and mapping systems.
- Operate additional diagnostic and therapeutic equipment (hemodynamic monitoring, defibrillator, intra‑aortic balloon pump, injector, stents, rotoblator, temporary pacemakers, TEC device, angiojet, x‑ray) safely and effectively.
- Observe all occupational and radiation safety regulations, wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, maintain required certifications/licenses, complete mandatory education, and stay abreast of technological changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Current CPR certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Registration as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of Cath Lab Technologist experience.
