General ResponsibilitiesTo coordinate and facilitate quality improvement and performance activities in accordance for multiple hospital unit teams participating in the Alabama Perinatal Quality Collaborative (ALPQC). To support participating hospitals as they implement various initiatives aimed at improving quality of care. To provide nursing consultation and quality improvement guidance. To support engagement with perinatal quality collaboratives in other states.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Consults, collaborates, and provides technical assistance to participating hospital teams with a focus on improving outcomes at the unit-level.
- Identifies opportunities for linking peers across hospitals to share best practices.
- Willingness to participate in regular quality improvement trainings.
- Uses evidence-based protocols, combined with innovative, practical ideas to support hospital clinical teams in continuous quality improvement efforts, including but not limited to 30/60/90 day work plans and Plan Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles/ small tests of change.
- Develop webinars, including identifying and soliciting speakers and facilitating as needed.
- Conduct regular meetings (in-person or virtual) with hospital teams to review work plan progress, review data reports, and offer technical support as needed.
- Collaborate with ALPQC staff, clinical champions, data management, and evaluation partners.
- Review project data and look for trends, areas of success, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide project and hospital-specific recommendations based on the data.
- Provide recommendations for staff and clinical leads in the selection, design, development, and implementation of initiatives aimed at improving the quality of care.
- Lead development of materials, including tools to support the project, for example: project toolkit materials (e.g. provider, nurse, and patient education, clinical process flows, and checklists), quality improvement implementation, and clinical engagement tools such as newsletters, and presentation slides.
- Support implementation of Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Patient Safety Bundles, including attending regular meetings with AIM program officers and state teams and providing updates as needed.
- Supports the implementation of scholarly endeavors such as research, evidence-based practice, publications, and presentations as needed.
- Serve as a project liaison with steering committee members and other partners.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
$60,835 – $98,000
Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Nursing and four (4) years of clinical nursing experience, one (1) year of which should be experience conducting or supporting quality improvement activities, required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Preferences- Experience working in perinatal or maternal health settings
- Strong data interpretation and data visualization skills
- Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
