Lab Technician – Birmingham, AL. Main Street Family Care operates over 60 fast-growing urgent care clinics across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. As we continue expanding access to high-quality healthcare in rural communities throughout the Southeastern U.S., our mission remains the same:
Speedy recovery for our patients. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Lab Technician to join our clinical team in the Birmingham, AL area. This role delivers accurate, timely diagnostic results through high-complexity real-time PCR testing and other laboratory procedures that directly impact patient care.

• Perform CLIA high-complexity, real-time PCR testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements
• Collect, prepare, process, and analyze patient specimens
• Accurately document laboratory results in the electronic medical record
• Perform quality control procedures, calibration, and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
• Prepare and manage specimens for internal and external testing as needed
• Monitor laboratory inventory, reagents, and expiration dates
• Identify, troubleshoot, and report testing discrepancies, equipment issues, or quality concerns
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
• Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to support efficient operations

• Medical laboratory certification, or a Bachelor s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science that is compliant with CLIA standards.
• Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, including molecular or PCR-based testing

• Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience
• Experience performing high-complexity real-time PCR testing in a regulated laboratory environment
• Experience in urgent care, primary care, or high-volume clinical settings

• Proficiency in real-time PCR and molecular diagnostic techniques
• Knowledge of high-complexity laboratory testing standards and CLIA requirements
• Strong attention to detail and quality assurance practices
• Ability to troubleshoot testing and equipment issues
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Approximately 30-40 hours per week
• 10-hour shifts, scheduled across 7 days per week
• Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Schedule may vary based on operational and testing volume needs

• Position begins at $25/hr
