Patient Registration Receptionist (Temporary)
School of Medicine (SOM) – UAB Temp Services
OverviewThe Patient Registration Receptionist (Temporary) serves as the first point of contact for patients in a School of Medicine clinical setting. This role is responsible for greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments and tests, managing front desk operations, and providing clerical support to clinical staff. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support patients across the lifespan in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities- Greet, register, and check in patients upon arrival to the clinic
- Act as the first point of contact and provide a positive patient experience
- Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and diagnostic tests
- Answer and appropriately route incoming phone calls
- Prepare orders, distribute patient charts, and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Prepare, collect, and reconcile charge tickets
- Balance monies collected and prepare daily activity and reconciliation reports
- Assist patients with questions, concerns, and general needs
- Provide clerical and administrative support to clinic staff as needed
- Respond effectively to the needs of patients ranging from newborn through geriatric populations
- Adhere to UAB policies, HIPAA guidelines, and clinic workflows
Hourly Rate: $17.00
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- One (1) year of related experience in a medical office, clinic, or customer service environment
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment
- Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
- Experience with patient registration systems, scheduling software, or electronic medical records (EMR)
- Cash handling or billing experience
