Due to continued growth, we are seeking aLab Technician to join our clinical team in the Birmingham, AL area. This role plays a vital part in delivering accurate,timely diagnostic results through high-complexity real-time PCR testing and other laboratory procedures that directlyimpactpatient care.
The Lab Technician is responsible for performing high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing, including real-time PCR, while ensuring compliance with CLIA regulations, quality standards, and Main Street Family Care values. This position supports providers by producing reliable laboratory results that enable efficient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform CLIA high-complexity, real-time PCR testingin accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements
- Collect, prepare, process, and analyze patient specimens
- Accurately document laboratory results in the electronic medical record
- Perform quality control procedures, calibration, and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
- Prepare and manage specimens for internal and external testing as needed
- Monitor laboratory inventory, reagents, andexpirationdates
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report testing discrepancies, equipment issues, or quality concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to support efficient operations
- Perform advanced molecular diagnostic testing in a growing healthcare organization
- Make a direct impact on patient outcomes through accurate, rapid diagnostics

- Medical laboratory certification, or aBachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science that is compliant with CLIA standards.
- Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, including molecular or PCR-based testing
- Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience
- Experience performing high-complexity real-time PCR testing in a regulated laboratory environment
- Experience in urgent care, primary care, or high-volume clinical settings
- Proficiency in real-time PCR and molecular diagnostic techniques
- Knowledge of high-complexity laboratory testing standards and CLIA requirements
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance practices
- Ability to troubleshoot testing and equipment issues
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Approximately 30-40hoursper week
- 10-hour shifts, scheduled across 7 days per week
- Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Schedule may vary based on operational and testing volume needs
- Position begins at $25/hr
