Base Pay Range

$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations, and in performing other pharmacy department duties as per company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers on the operation of pharmacy systems and pharmacy cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits (e.g., proactive help, needs identification, service until satisfaction).
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy under supervision, review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties as assigned by pharmacy manager, staff pharmacist, and store manager, including entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine correctness, and checking interactions.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures relating to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Adhere strictly to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register, handle cash as required, and assist customers in the OTC aisle when possible.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, performing other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist and support pharmacy department with inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
  • Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including blood/urine sample collection and labeling, and coordinate clinical services at Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
  • Assist pharmacy manager and staff pharmacist in developing and maintaining strong relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health‑care providers via provider detailing and outreach.
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance, ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program or state‑required certification/registration; gain PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
