Hours will be 5:00 A.M. – 1:30 P.M.
ResponsibilitiesProvide support to the facility by performing specific or various business office functions as assigned, including but not limited to medical records, credentialing, admissions/intake, accounts payable, billing, collections, insurance verification, transaction posting, clinical logs, and other duties as assigned.
- Schedule surgeries in the surgical template in the computer, along with pertinent information, and handle calls from physicians’ offices regarding scheduling patients at the surgery center.
- Answer phone in a pleasant manner and deal with physician offices and patient needs expeditiously; take messages and transfer calls to other departments when necessary.
- Perform pre-registration and obtain authorization from the physician’s office prior to scheduled surgery; complete necessary paperwork for registration and use the computer system to generate information for the surgical/special procedure.
- Maintain a log for canceled appointments.
- Perform clerical duties such as photocopying forms, reports, patient information, mailing surveys, preparing patient charts, faxing forms and retrieving faxes as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly surgery scheduling area.
- Verify all scheduled cases as soon as possible.
- Contact patients with a financial responsibility immediately, inform them of the center’s payment policies, and offer payment options if necessary.
- Document all insurance verification and patient calls clearly in the patient’s account.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate degree or equivalent preferred. - Minimum three years of experience in health care and at least one year of experience in surgery scheduling procedures preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Basic knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist, and registration responsibilities; ability to handle stress.
- Flexible with hours and able to work the shift that needs to be covered.
