Position Overview
Role: Pharmacy Technician – Multiple Shifts
Location: Birmingham, AL
Pay Range: $16.00 – $20.48 per hour
Shifts: Full-time, Part-time, 7-on/7-off, Flexi/PRN

Job HighlightsOur team of approximately 150 pharmacists and 150 technicians works together to support pharmacy operations and serve a diverse patient population with compassion and clinical expertise. You will be an integral part of the pharmacy team, supporting patient care at UAB Hospital by preparing sterile IV medications, filling medication order requests, managing automated dispensing cabinets, compounding non-sterile medications, and preparing prescription orders.
Job Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists with dispensing activities, inventory control, and maintain adequate drug supplies.
- Maintain daily operations: answering phones, assisting individuals at the pharmacy window, entering charges for medications, receiving and stocking drug orders, and keeping assigned area clean.
- Repackage bulk medication into unit-dose containers, ensuring correct drug name, strength, lot number, expiration date, and barcode; verify with pharmacist before stock placement.
- Deliver and distribute medications to the correct patient care area or Automated Medication Management System (AMMS) promptly; observe established guidelines and load Pyxis medications correctly.
- Fill and deliver controlled substances to and from designated patient care areas according to guidelines; maintain controlled substance counts and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare sterile products following proper protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Currently registered or eligible to be registered as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern/extern by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP); active registration required prior to hire.
