Environmental Services Specialist – NGHTS (T232125)

Description

The primary accountabilities below describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not an exhaustive statement of duties.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university.
  • Respond to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents.
  • Adhere to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Use professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques.
  • Interact with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
  • Assist other team members with daily work and special projects.
  • Use assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests.
  • Regularly inspect and refill supply of paper, soap and other products throughout shift.
  • Maintain carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains; maintain hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.
  • Inspect and actively maintain cleanliness of high‑traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas; maintain cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high‑contact surfaces.
  • Dust, clean and disinfect a variety of surfaces to include furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
  • Use resources in a safe, cost‑effective manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend written and oral instruction.
  • Ability to use personal computer, cell phone, tablet or other device with limited training.
  • Ability to utilize email programs and applications necessary to perform job duties with limited training.
  • Ability to perform work independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Interpersonal skills.

Experience

Previous housekeeping experience preferred.

Compensation & Work Schedule
  • Starting hourly rate: $15.00/hour.
  • Work schedule:

    Flexible schedule, including Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.; shifts subject to change.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Licenses / Certifications

Some positions require that driving record meet University underwriting guidelines to drive a vehicle in performance of University business. Current guidelines include possession of a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
This position will not require driving.

Personal
  • Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Working within extreme temperature ranges.
