Position Overview
Under general supervision and according to UAB Medicine established policies and procedures, the Patient Services Coordinator II provides a variety of specialized services in support of the operations of their assigned physician and advanced practice providers. Responsibilities include scheduling and adding patients to clinic, answering telephones and routing calls, entering demographic and insurance data into the IDX system, obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals, scheduling surgical cases, arriving and checking out patients in clinic, collecting copays, performing patient follow‑up, coordinating patient care at satellite clinics, and performing other clerical duties related to patient care such as home health forms and patient and family leave forms.
Pay range: $16.00 – $26.00 per hour
Shift type: Flexi/PRN

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years office/clerical experience in customer service, call center, physician office or another clinical environment.
- Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management.
- Math and bookkeeping skills.
- Exceptional telephone and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in English grammar and punctuation.
- Business Office Education or similar coursework preferred.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred.
- CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
