Waverly Advisors is seeking an Estate Planning Associate to join our growing, multi-state RIA, with a strong preference for candidates based in Birmingham, AL. This role works closely with Wealth Advisors and Senior Estate Planning Consultants to review, coordinate, and implement estate planning strategies, with a primary focus on detailed document analysis and implementation support. The position also coordinates with clients and outside estate planning attorneys to ensure documents are accurate, complete, and aligned with client intent, and does not provide legal advice.
Responsibilities- Review estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and beneficiary designations, to ensure alignment with client goals and planning strategies.
- Prepare detailed estate plan summaries, flowcharts, and implementation checklists for internal and client use.
- Identify inconsistencies, outdated provisions, or gaps in estate planning documents and elevate findings to senior planning staff.
- Coordinate with estate planning attorneys to track document drafts, revisions, and execution.
- Assist with estate plan implementation, including account titling reviews and beneficiary alignment.
- Maintain accurate and organized estate planning records in CRM and document management systems.
- Support ongoing estate plan maintenance by monitoring life events, asset changes, and planning updates.
- Collaborate with Wealth Advisors to integrate estate planning with broader financial planning strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in estate planning, financial planning, trust administration, or wealth management.
- Strong working knowledge of common estate planning documents and concepts.
- Experience working in or with an RIA, law firm, trust company, or financial advisory firm.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while collaborating with senior team members.
- Minimal travel
