Job Description

At Regions, the Risk Analyst performs advanced risk analyst duties as a first or second- line of defense function for the bank. This position will lead the coordination efforts with internal and external parties to conduct financial reporting, controls, policy and procedure documentation, governance activities, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, this position will develop and implement independent reporting and/or financial analysis to assist in the Risk team’s oversight role.

This role will assist in improvement efforts and provide regular updates on various practices, reports, policies, and procedures within the department.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conducts moderately complex identification, measurement, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting tasks

  • Designs, develops, and reports independent analyses that provide greater insight into risk exposures and mitigation efforts

  • Enhances team processes and updates policies and procedures to reflect improvements

  • Participates in the team’s preparation and involvement in regulatory examinations, which may include the annual Federal Reserve stress tests, examinations, etc.

  • Remains well informed of regulatory and industry practices

  • Resolves a range of problems and analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures

  • Builds advanced knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers

  • May serve on related committees and/or working groups

  • May perform financial stress testing simulations

  • May offer advice and guidance to junior analysts on occasion

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field

  • Four (4) years of related experience

  • Working knowledge of fundamental risk theories, principles, and concepts

Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to learn additional systems as needed

  • Ability to research, analyze data, and derive facts

  • Ability to work in a team environment when applicable

  • Ability to work under moderate guidance

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

  • Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

  • Measures and monitors data quality, designs, and executes remediation plans, maintains, and supports applicable data management standards

  • Implements and supports data quality requirements as designed by the Data Owner, including the business rules and movement controls

  • Reviews data quality issues, perform analysis, recommend fixes, and/or report timely any breaches of thresholds to Data Owners, Data Consumers, and escape as needed to Enterprise Data Management (EDM)

  • Manages and resolves or remediates data issues identified by Data Owners and Data Consumers

  • Manages, executes and tracks data quality remediation plans in coordination with all stakeholders
