Financial Systems Analyst

At Regions, the Financial Systems Analyst implements and maintains financial software and ensures that all financial modules are meeting organizational needs.

• Collaborates with information technology and finance staff to meet business requirements; may be responsible for end user training
• Ensures that consistent practices are used throughout the company to maintain the integrity of the system
• Processes financial information and maintains financial records in the system
• Provides expertise in analyses on financial systems data, including troubleshooting and resolving issues
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Mentor and train junior analysts on financial systems and process

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with six (6) years of experience in the field/related area
• Or, a High School Diploma or GED with ten (10) years of experience in a related technical field

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Familiar with relational database concepts and client-server concepts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Analyses General Ledger and subsidiary system ledgers within the Mainframe environment
• Assists with general ledger research and helps ensure the integrity of accounting information
• Helps with the provision of timely, accurate, and reliable financial information and the running and enhancement of Mainframe based process and those associated jobs.
• Facilitates frequent financial analyses to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Prepares, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions as needed and manages assigned reports and control functions
• Completes regular and ad-hoc reporting and business reviews as well as the preparation of key presentations and special projects as required
• Maintains and seeks opportunities to improve quantitative analytical tools
• Support in the development of new analytical approaches to quantifying material risks to the bank
• Aids with innovating methods to identify material risks, and implement processes to monitor these risks

• Experience with COBOL, CICS, VSAM, and MVS JCL experience is preferred.
• Preferred analytical skills with some knowledge of COBOL in Batch and CICS in an IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
• Experience with TSO, ISPW, MQ, JSON, File Aid, Xpediter and Abend Aid tools is preferred.
• Candidates with experience with Infor/Trisyn may be differentiated.
• Experience with Essbase Financial Reporting tool or similar
• Previous experience in banking is desirable
• Good verbal and written communication skills including presentation of financial analysis
• Strong work ethic and self-motivation
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail

• Strong Technical Skills are necessary for success in this role.
• Expert level Excel 365 skills (index, match, arrays, v and x functions, pivot tables, charts, VBA, complex nested functions), Oracle Hyperion Essbase.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products Suite, particularly Excel
• Mid-level SQL coding capabilities for Oracle, SQL Server, Data Lake and other database platforms which serve our data repositories
• Ability to work with large volumes of data using appropriate tools
• Strong Mainframe Skills, including TSO
• Financial analysis and research
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentation of financial analysis
