Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineer - Stormwater (PE) for our Birmingham, AL office. The position's functions will be facilitated through project work.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include Services Provided in this Discipline AreaServices provided in this discipline include (but may not be limited to) planning, design, and construction administration of:
- Stormwater Management
- Detention / Retention Pond and Outfall Design & Analysis
- Bridge Hydraulics and Scour Analysis
- Erosion Control Design & Analysis
- Watershed Hydrology
- Watershed Master Planning
- Open Channel Hydraulics Design & Analysis
- Channel Stabilization
- Hydraulic Modeling (HEC‑RAS 1D/2D and LA DOTD Hydro
WIN, FHWA HY‑8 and Hydraulic Toolbox minimum) - Comprehensive Planning
- Design of Hydraulic Structures
- Floodplain Mapping
- FEMA Regulatory Modeling and Floodplain Management
- Serve as Waggoner’s technical lead in executing the performance of the services included in this discipline area.
- Assist project managers and CAMs in developing technical scope of work, budget, and schedule associated with projects in this discipline.
- Responsible for all aspects of the discipline and has significant management responsibilities. Additional tasks include:
- Hire personnel previously approved.
- Exercise company disciplinary policies and measures including termination with reference to personnel.
- Perform annual performance reviews of staff.
- Ensure client quality expectations are met.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, find root cause of quality problems, own/act on quality problems.
- Mentor and develop Waggoner staff in the various skill sets necessary to execute the service areas within this discipline.
- Facilitate growth and development of the discipline at Waggoner.
- Remain abreast of trends and opportunities impacting the service areas.
- Determine equipment, software, information, communications, etc., needed for the discipline.
- Identify and develop project opportunities for new work and/or expanded services for new and established clients for this discipline.
- Work closely with Business Development and Marketing staff to pursue business in the discipline area.
- Develop marketing and sales plans related to this discipline.
- Assist in meeting company marketing and sales plan goals especially as they relate to discipline.
- Work closely with the Management Team and PMs and CAMs related to discipline area services for their projects and pursuits.
- Develop proposal strategies for opportunities in this discipline that utilize Company’s strengths and innovative thinking to gain a competitive advantage.
- Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
- 4 – 10+ years of experience.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Alabama, or ability to gain licensure within 4 months of hire.
- Base Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
- Signing Bonus: One-time signing bonus of $10,000, payable within 30 days of your start date.
- Clawback Provision: If you voluntarily resign or are terminated for cause within 12 months of your start date, you agree to repay the signing bonus in full.
