As a Program Architect, you will work with project teams in a dynamic, rapid‑growth work environment with bright and talented engineers, architects, designers, builders, crafters, and manufacturers to improve and deploy a prototype building program and to build an alternative to the traditional construction industry. From desk to factory floor to job sites and client meetings, you will be challenged to develop your skills in a new field, taking a critical role in project delivery via the DMC methodology.

Position OverviewThe Junior Mechanical Engineer supports the design and development of mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for advanced building projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineering and program design leaders, this role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop efficient, constructible system designs optimized for Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) and offsite fabrication. This is an excellent opportunity for early‑career engineers seeking hands‑on experience in innovative construction methods, integrated building system design, and advanced manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and detailing of mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems based on project and client requirements.
- Support multidisciplinary project teams to develop integrated building system designs optimized for offsite fabrication and modular construction.
- Perform calculations related to equipment sizing, system load analysis, and distribution layout development.
- Assist in developing system layouts, schematics, and models using BIM and 3D modeling tools.
- Support design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project quality requirements.
- Assist with evaluating system performance, constructability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and construction teams to support production quality and installation efficiency.
- Provide support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases to help ensure proper system performance.
- Maintain organized project documentation and support coordination between design disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 0–3 years of experience in mechanical system design, construction engineering, or building systems preferred (internships or co‑op experience accepted).
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system fundamentals.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and construction documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
- Interest in innovative construction technologies and advanced manufacturing processes.
- Experience or coursework related to building systems design.
- Familiarity with BIM and 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or CADMEP.
- Exposure to mechanical system analysis software such as Carrier HAP or Trane Trace.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and standards such as IMC, IPC, ASHRAE, NFPA, or FGI.
- Internship or project experience supporting construction or manufacturing environments.
- Interest in sustainable design or renewable energy systems.
