Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer. This role supports the Grid Operations and Planning Research area and will contribute to — and eventually lead — efforts to deploy, evaluate, and assess emerging grid technologies. The position emphasizes power system analysis, modeling, simulation, data analytics, and visualization
, with opportunities to engage in broader power system initiatives.

Key Technologies:

• Synchrophasor technology
• Next-generation control center functionalities
• Cybersecurity testing
• Advanced grid visualization techniques
• Data analytics and “big data” applications
• Modeling and simulation using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) with hardware-in-the-loop testing

• Develop and execute research plans to evaluate emerging grid technologies
• Support and eventually lead technology deployment and performance evaluation efforts
• Perform power system analysis, modeling, and simulation, including digital twin applications
• Apply data analytics and visualization techniques to support grid operations
• Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Document study assumptions, methodologies, and results clearly and accurately
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project updates for internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional research and engineering teams
• Participate in limited overnight travel as required (not extensive)

• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE)
• 6–10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
• Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation tools such as RTDS, PSCAD, or PSS/E
• Specialization in Power Systems
• Experience or training in computer programming (Python, C#, SQL)
• Experience or training in data science, data analytics, or visualization
• Knowledge of databases, data structures, and computer networking
