Kinder Morgan, Inc. is hiring a Measurement Engineer/Specialist in Birmingham, AL.
Position OverviewCollaborate with field operations and the Measurement Department to improve measurement across assets, especially within the central United States. Work with teams in the field to promote consistency of measurement techniques, evaluate physical measurement, build business case solutions, and address measurement imbalances.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with field operations to promote consistent measurement techniques and evaluate physical measurements.
- Utilize data and analysis tools to investigate and identify measurement‑related issues.
- Investigate measurement quality using knowledge, data analysis, and communication with field personnel.
- Develop scope and business justifications for physical measurement improvements.
- Lead investigation and assessment teams to prioritize and implement actions that solve pipeline measurement imbalances.
- Provide measurement‑related field training as necessary.
- Continuously seek new ways to analyze data, resolve problems, and improve processes.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related physical sciences (or equivalent experience). Prefer 5+ years of natural gas measurement experience.
- Knowledge of natural gas measurement standards such as AGA, API, GPA, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, flow chart, cause/effect diagrams, and P&.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under strict deadlines.
- Self‑motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective oral and written communication across all levels.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Commitment to safety and ability to work in varying weather and field conditions.
25‑50% overnight travel across a broad geographic region may be required. Carry a company‑provided cell phone and be available to respond during and occasionally outside working hours.
