Building Automation Engineer – Brooks Building Solutions

Join our team as a Building Automation Project Engineer as we expand into the Birmingham, Alabama market. This role will initially be fully remote while our Birmingham office is established. Once operational, there will be occasional travel to local job sites. You’ll work on integrating HVAC, lighting, energy management, and security systems into high-performance buildings, collaborating closely with our field operations teams and clients.

$96,000 - $120,000 per year, with relocation assistance and signing bonuses for qualified candidates.

• Design and implement building automation systems based on project needs
• Integrate HVAC, lighting, security, and energy platforms
• Create system schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences
• Program controllers, sensors, and automation devices
• Support final commissioning and provide technical assistance to field teams and end users
• Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices
• Ensure projects meet safety codes and regulatory requirements

• Experience with building automation systems (Niagara, Distech, ACAD preferred)
• Knowledge of protocols like BACnet, Modbus, or Lon Works
• Strong understanding of HVAC, lighting, energy, and security systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
• Degree in engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed
