The Drafter / Engineering Technician will be responsible for designing and developing products using software. They will determine design factors (size, arrangements, shape, etc). Additionally, they will provide technical support and handle drafting work (assembly, detail drawings, Bill of Materials, etc).

You will make an impact in this role by:

  • Providing technical support for the Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Reviewing Sales and Marketing information and/or customer requirements and advise on feasibility and estimated cost of the potential products.
  • Participating in the development of product catalogs and promotional literature.
  • Working with Lab Technicians on product performance and verification tests, conduct tests if needed and analyze test results in conjunction with Project Engineers.
  • Assisting the Quality Department in the development of Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Developing and drawing assembly and detail drawings, conceptual designs, Bill of Materials using specifications provided by the Project Engineers.
  • Maintaining and updating drawing files and Engineering Library.
  • Following established quality system Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

To be considered for the Drafter / Engineering Technician role, you must have the following minimum qualifications:

Key Skills and Attributes
  • Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Blueprint Information.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerance is required. Familiar with computer‑based systems operation.
  • Self‑Starter and Motivator:
    Able to develop effective relationships with distributors, regional sales managers, and customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to use database software, design software, development software, Project Management software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Listens and gets clarification.
  • Responds well to questions.
  • Write clearly and informatively.
  • Able to read and interpret written information.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent required.
  • 6 months–1 year experience in a related environment preferred.
