This high‑visibility role will directly contribute to increasing reactor output and optimizing performance at nuclear facilities across the country. With a focus on leadership of technical electrical engineering teams, this position promises professional growth and the chance to make a meaningful impact within the highly desirable and growing energy sector.

As an Engineer Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of planning and executing complex engineering tasks that drive energy efficiency and reliability. You’ll collaborate with industry‑leading technical experts, seasoned project managers, and client stakeholders to deliver solutions that are safe, cost‑effective, and regulatory‑compliant.

Location options:
Kennesaw, GA (suburb of Atlanta);
Overland Park, KS;
Birmingham, AL;
Naperville, IL;
Remote will be considered for candidates with 10+ years in nuclear design.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a dynamic team, balancing priorities, ensuring quality, and meeting deadlines while driving project success.
  • Strategic impact:
    Power uprates are rapidly becoming a cornerstone of U.S. energy policy, driven by recently passed legislation aimed at accelerating clean energy deployment. This role places you at the center of that transformation.
  • Career springboard:
    With the U.S. targeting a fourfold increase in nuclear capacity—from ~100 GW today to 400 GW by 2050—power uprates are anticipated to only contribute approximately 8 GW. To meet this ambitious goal, the industry will soon shift focus to designing and constructing new reactors, including advanced and small modular reactor technologies. This role positions you to transition seamlessly into those future projects, giving you a front‑row seat to the next generation of nuclear development.
  • Unit leadership and management:
    Serve as the focal point for initial unit contact to Management, Project Managers (PMs), and other internal constituents. Direct/assign work to the unit to balance activities between work groups and individuals. Approve timesheets and expense reports. Conduct unit’s annual performance appraisals. Support management in recruiting new employees.
  • Quality control and technical oversight:
    Maintain responsibility for the unit’s quality; establish and enforce quality standards for the unit through the Lead Engineers. Certify design documents as required by state and local client and code requirements. Demonstrate technical leadership, providing resolution to technical issues either through own knowledge or by coordination with Subject Matter Expert.
  • Project management and client relations:
    Work with Project Managers, ensure unit’s responsibility to meet budget and schedule for assigned projects. Approve engineering documents produced by the unit. Lead proposal preparation with input for scope and budget to PMs. Develop professional relationships with client counterparts. Assist in marketing the unit’s expertise/abilities to clients.
  • Staff development and performance:
    Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coaching. Promote professional development of staff (e.g., professional license, certifications, training, mentoring, and client qualifications).
  • Administrative support:
    Support company policies and procedures. Support maintenance of short- and long-range staffing plans based on work projections.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in design engineering in power generation or nuclear power with at least 2 of those years as a group lead or supervisor.
  • Professional Engineering License required.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate team and achieve goals through a positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style.
  • Proven experience with a high level of decision making,…
