Adjunct English Instructor at Lawson State Community College
Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This is an applicant pool; individuals will be hired as needed.
Position SummaryUnder general supervision, prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at the freshmen and sophomore coursework levels and perform other duties associated with institutional effectiveness.
Terms of EmploymentEmployed on an "As Needed" basis; salary based on local schedule and documented credentials; limited to a maximum of nine credit hours per semester.
Salary:
Academic Adjunct – MS/MA $1,683 per 3‑credit course;
PhD/Ed.D. $1,836 per 3‑credit course.
- Adhere to Blackboard requirements: post syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments, and test dates.
- Teach and follow current job‑relevant syllabi and training plans.
- Supplement lectures and demonstrations with multimedia materials.
- Demonstrate safe use of equipment; include safety, health, and fire prevention in instruction.
- Maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Supervise students and maintain discipline in class, lab, and shop.
- Develop laboratory projects linking theory to practical application.
- Distribute a current syllabus at the beginning of each term covering objectives, outline, evaluation methods, schedule, lab rules, required books, and supplies.
- Administer written and performance examinations to assess progress.
- Record student progress systematically.
- Teach and demand good work habits from students.
- Submit a teaching plan during absences.
- Communicate student progress per established guidelines.
- Supervise cooperative educational settings when applicable.
- Respond to student requests within 24‑48 hours.
- Follow regulations regarding online instruction.
- Facilitate instructional methodologies for programs involving industry chemicals/products.
- Maintain permanent roll and accurate attendance; submit reports on time.
- Follow the grading system; submit grades each term by the due date.
- Submit forms to the registrar for student status changes.
- Assist students with graduation documents.
- Participate in departmental orientation.
- Communicate announcements as directed; adhere to policies, FERPA, and ADA regulations.
- Minimum of a Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate semester hours (27 graduate quarter hours) in the teaching discipline.
