Superintendent at Murray Construction
The Superintendent is primarily responsible for the daily management of a specific project site and all personnel working at the site. This position also requires a cooperative role with the Project Manager to maintain or improve project goals in regard to safety, schedule, adherence to specifications, and profitability. In the current organizational structure, the Superintendent reports to either a Senior Superintendent or directly to the General Superintendent.
A solid, experienced leader who is driven by our company’s principles and procedures is required. Minimum qualifications include five (5) years of construction industry experience in a lead or supervisory role, completion of an OSHA 30‑hour Construction Safety Class, and a desire to grow within the company.
- Manage daily on‑site field operations and personnel for assigned projects.
- Schedule and coordinate field forces and conduct job progress meetings to track schedule and coordinate work details.
- Maintain organized lists of project contacts, materials, and delivery tickets.
- Track, record, and submit field employee timesheets, daily reports, labor reports, and RFI responses to Human Resources and the Project Manager on a weekly basis.
- Keep organized files of shop drawings, submittals, and record contract drawings at the job site.
- Read and understand purchase orders and subcontracts for assigned projects.
- Monitor, ensure, and enforce the quality of work in accordance with the contract documents and the Murray QAQC Program.
- Comply with all OSHA and company safety requirements and serve as a safety leader for assigned projects.
- Organize and manage Material Safety Data Sheet paperwork and post required safety information at the job site.
- Schedule and lead weekly (or more frequently if needed) safety toolbox meetings and document attendees and meeting content for project files.
- Participate in due diligence off meetings between DCS, Project Manager, General Superintendent, Superintendent, and Estimator.
Work with the Project Manager to draft project business plans, overall schedules, monthly project financial projections, and final job reports. - Ensure all project expenditures remain within budget and coordinate timely delivery of materials to the job site.

- High School Diploma (4‑Year College Degree Preferred).
- At least five (5) years of construction industry experience in a lead or supervisory role.
- Basic computer knowledge and typing skills; familiarity with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Procore Software.
- Comprehend and interpret instructions, brief correspondence, and memos; ask clarifying questions as needed.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co‑workers, and supervisors.
- Effectively present information to an internal group.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and fit with company culture and processes.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations.
- Solve problems in standard situations; requires basic analytical skills.
