Overview

Saiia Construction, a Mas Tec company, is hiring an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead projects in Heavy Civil with a focus on Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR). The role will be based in Birmingham, AL and requires 7–10+ years of Project Management experience in Heavy Civil, with a preference for experience in CCR.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a constant focus on meeting and exceeding client needs and expectations in all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Plan, organize, and staff key field positions working with organizational or division leadership.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within corporate policy boundaries.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with client, subcontractors and vendors to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of the on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the company in meetings, assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings, and maintain good vendor relationships.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts, including fee payments, rental equipment, income and expenses, while maintaining strong client and vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate project activities, resolve problem areas, and ensure all company project policies, procedures, and standards are maintained throughout the project.
  • Interpret project design and drawings for crafts installing materials and prepare field design change requisitions and “as built” drawings.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists, and material requirement calculations.
  • Perform building control lines and elevations for accurate material measurement and installation.
  • Verify construction progress to prepare monthly billings based on contractual agreements.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Division Manager.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other necessary software tools.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software such as Hard Dollar, Bid Build, Heavy Build or similar.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera or similar construction scheduling software.
  • Understanding of civil engineering design and construction methods and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of mass grading and earthwork, stream restoration, stormwater management, erosion control, and utility infrastructure requirements.
  • Experience with job costing, scheduling, and estimating contract changes.
  • Innovative and effective project performance management techniques to maximize project performance.
  • Strong multitasking, detail orientation, and work ethic.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective public speaking before clients, management, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Problem definition, data collection, facts establishment, and conclusion drawing skills.
  • Effective organization of numerous streams of information.
  • Time and priority management skills with meeting deadlines.
Educational and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or equivalent related field of study.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years previous experience in an equivalent position.
