Responsibilities
Maynard Nexsen is seeking qualified candidates for a Recruiting and Events Intern position located in Birmingham, Alabama.
With an important role on a highly-respected and hard-working team, the Recruiting and Events Intern’s overarching role is to assist and support the Firm’s recruiting initiatives through event planning and administrative responsibilities. This position reports to and provides support to the Recruiting Coordinator.
This Recruiting and Events Intern will have the opportunity to play a major role in the overall success of recruiting talent during the Firm’s summer recruiting and pre-law programs.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Recruiting Event Support- Assist Recruiting Coordinator with coordination of the Summer Clerkship Program, which includes managing the clerk project database, coordinating on-site and off-site events, and communicating with speakers for events. The role requires assistance with planning and attendance at various social events.
- Assist Recruiting Coordinator with coordination of pre-law program, a four‑week program in the summer for undergraduate college students considering law school or students entering law school the following fall. The program entails planning events, including luncheons with guest speakers, and assigning work projects. This program runs simultaneously with the summer associate program.
- Assist Recruiting Coordinator with communications and review of agreements with vendors.
- Assist with law student recruitment and hiring.
- Prepare correspondence, maintain files and other similar duties.
- Assist with other Firm special projects as requested, including support for the Chief Talent Officer and some marketing administrative work.
- Assist in preparation for Recruiting Committee meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
- A general knowledge of a business and/or law firm environment.
- Strong writing skills are required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and an overall comfort using internet‑based technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to maintain confidential and handle sensitive information.
- Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Analytical ability to gather and summarize reports, find solutions, problem‑solve and prioritize work.
- A proactive team player.
- Consistent attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials.
- Flexibility.
- The ability to adapt easily to a fast‑paced working environment. This position includes working around standard work hours.
