Corporate Staff Accountant
Location: Birmingham, AL
Our client is seeking a Corporate Staff Accountant to support the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions. This role partners closely with accounting leadership and cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely completion of the monthly close process. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the integrity of the general ledger
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assist with the month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Analyze financial results and research variances
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing required documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
- Collaborate with AP, AR, payroll, FP&A, and other departments to support overall financial operations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1‑3+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or corporate experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- CPA or CPA‑eligible preferred.
- Experience with multi‑entity or multi‑location organizations
- Exposure to SOX compliance and internal control environments
- Experience in a mid‑to‑large corporate setting
