Accounting Manager

We are assisting a financial services firm with the search for an Accounting Manager. The firm operates in a complex, multi-entity environment requiring strong financial oversight, accuracy, and accountability. The Accounting Manager position offers the opportunity to contribute in an SEC-filer environment within a structured controls framework. This role combines technical accounting expertise with leadership responsibilities. The position is based in Birmingham, AL and follows a hybrid model with four days in the office and one day remote.

This role is central to maintaining financial accuracy and supporting regulatory compliance. The Financial Accounting Manager oversees critical accounting processes and ensures that reporting aligns with SEC standards. Close collaboration with trading desks, operations, and middle office teams strengthens financial insight. Strong oversight of controls and documentation supports audit readiness and transparency. The position also guides team members and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Lead the month-end close process and prepare supporting documentation in line with SEC reporting standards.
• Oversee account reconciliations, general ledger analysis, and commission calculations.
• Manage daily trade activity analysis using internal accounting and trading systems.
• Maintain and strengthen the SOX 404 controls environment and supports audit processes.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff while contributing to special projects.

Success in this position requires strong technical expertise and structured leadership. Experience with in an SEC-filer environment is highly valued. A solid understanding of internal controls and regulatory requirements supports effective performance. Strong organization and analytical thinking ensure accurate reporting in a fast-paced setting. Professional certification confirms commitment to high accounting standards.

• CPA certification is required, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least five years of public accounting experience, including SEC reporting exposure.
• Proven experience in a SOX 404 controls environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience at manager level.
• Strong Excel skills and solid analytical and communication abilities.
