General Ledger (GL) Accountant

Location:

Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)

We’re looking for a detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to support accurate financial reporting and month-end close in a dynamic, growing organization. Agency experience is strongly preferred for this role is ideal for someone who understands project-based accounting, multiple cost centers, and the pace of client-driven work.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, collaborating cross-functionally, and helping leadership understand the financial story behind the numbers.

• Own and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
• Support project/client accounting, including revenue recognition and expense allocation
• Assist with financial statements and internal reporting
• Partner with AP, AR, and FP&A to ensure clean financial data
• Support audits and provide documentation as needed
• Continuously improve accounting processes and controls

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–6+ years of accounting experience
• Agency, professional services, or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with accounting systems (Net Suite, Quick Books, Sage, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
• CPA or CPA-track is a plus, not required
