Psychological Therapist Band 7

Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for the role of Psychological Therapist within Wirral’s Complex Needs Service.

The main responsibility of this role is to deliver evidenced based therapeutic care, which includes Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, to a case load of clients who have, or would attract, a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD). Therefore, it would be beneficial if the applicant had a keen interest in supporting this particular cohort of clients who often present with difficulties in regulating their emotions, experience interpersonal difficulties and whom have developed behaviours such as self-harm or may experience suicidal ideation as a way to try alleviate their symptoms.

The post holder will therefore need to be able to assess and respond to presenting risks appropriately, and respond to any safeguarding needs in keeping with safeguarding policy and procedures.

The applicant would benefit from prior experience in delivering training, as a key component to this role is the delivery of training to wider services and third sector parties. CNS also supports the wider services with consultation on particular cases, and the post holder will be responsible in supporting more complex consultation as well as supporting and supervising junior staff.

Shortlisting for this vacancy is due commence on 12th February 2026 and the proposed interview date is 19th February 2026
