Mental Health Waking Night Support Worker, Young People

Location: Bromborough, Wirral

Salary: £26,986.96 per annum

Hours: Full Time – 38.5 hours per week

Essential Requirements of a Support Worker
  • Flexibility – work night shifts including weekends and bank holidays
  • Ability to attend weekday training sessions throughout employment
  • Good written skills – write basic reports and record information accurately
  • Basic IT skills – use computer forms, online care system and email
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others
  • Maintain a professional working boundary
  • Remain calm in emergencies – support others during difficult situations
Desirable Criteria of a Support Worker
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care
  • Previous experience working with young people who have mental health needs
  • Full UK Driving Licence – Manual only (no automatic)
About the Role

Care in Mind provides residential services for young people aged 16‑30 years. The role involves supporting the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve individual goals and prepare for transition to adult life. You will be required to interact with the young people throughout the night, support their wellbeing, assist with education, household tasks and general life skills, and manage incidents and challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities also include updating online care records, completing medication administration, providing effective handovers to day staff, and maintaining the general upkeep and tidiness of the home. The role offers full training and ongoing support from the residential and clinical team, including reflective practice, 1:1 supervisions and group staff support.
