Social Worker - Children With Disability

As a Children with Disabilities Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with physical, learning, sensory, or developmental disabilities, along with their families. Your work focuses on promoting the wellbeing, safety, and rights of children, ensuring they have access to appropriate care, education, and social opportunities.

You will assess individual needs, develop care plans, coordinate multi-agency support, and advocate for services that enhance quality of life. This role requires empathy, resilience, and a strong understanding of safeguarding, disability legislation, and child development. You'll work closely with schools, health professionals, and voluntary organisations to create inclusive environments where children can thrive.

Shortlisting for this vacancy is due to commence on 6th February and the proposed interview date is 20th February

Main duties of the job
  • Assessment and Care Planning
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's needs, strengths, and risks.
  • Develop and review individual care and support plans in collaboration with families and professional
  • Safeguarding and Protection
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.
  • Participate in child protection conferences, strategy meetings, and court proceedings when necessary.
  • Advocacy and Support
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children with disabilities.
  • Support families in accessing services such as education, health care, respite care, and financial assistance.
  • Work closely with schools, health professionals, voluntary organisations, and other agencies.
  • Coordinate services to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to care.
  • Monitoring and Review
  • Regularly monitor the child's progress and wellbeing.
  • Update care plans and ensure services remain appropriate and effective.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records.
  • Prepare reports for internal use and external bodies, including courts and review panels.
  • Promoting Inclusion
  • Encourage participation in community and educational activities.
  • Support transitions, such as moving from child to adult services.
  • Professional Development
  • Stay informed about legislation, policy, and best practices.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and reflective practice.
