The Firecraft Lead Instructor provides specialist leadership, guidance, and high quality instructional delivery on a range of Firecraft courses. This role does not include line management, but instead focuses on leading by example, setting professional and behavioural standards, and developing less experienced instructors through mentoring, coaching, modelling best practice, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example in instructional delivery while supporting and guiding other instructors.
  • Provide mentorship, reassurance, and subject‑matter leadership during routine and high‑risk training.
  • Deliver high‑quality training that meets curriculum, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to quality assurance through peer observations, standardisation, and accurate record‑keeping.
  • Identify gaps in delivery and escalate improvement needs to the Team Leader.
  • Support the design, review, and enhancement of learning materials and training programmes.
  • Recommend and embed new approaches, technology, and innovations to improve learner experience.
  • Assist with operational coordination, scheduling, and ensuring resources are available and correctly allocated.
  • Promote safety, compliance, safeguarding, and learner welfare across all training environments.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, challenge outdated practices, and contribute to an inclusive, high‑performing team culture.
About you
  • Significant experience delivering firefighting or emergency services training within a structured, uniformed environment.
  • Experience leading or coordinating operational incidents, with sound working knowledge of the Fire Service Incident Command System.
  • Holds a recognised teaching qualification (AET Level 3 minimum) and assessor qualification(s).
  • Highly effective communicator with strong coaching and mentoring capability.
  • Demonstrable commitment to high‑quality learner experiences, safety, and professional standards.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to operate confidently in dynamic, high‑tempo training environments.
