Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Wirral
A supportive and inclusive specialist education setting in Wirral is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The school provides a nurturing environment for pupils who benefit from smaller class sizes, personalised support, and staff who truly care about their wellbeing and progress. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils build confidence in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of additional learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs
Work alongside Teachers and Support Staff to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and resilience
Assist with planning, adapting resources, and reinforcing learning objectives
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported
Contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere where students can develop academically and personally
Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour as required
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, childcare, SEN, or similar)
A patient, compassionate approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
A genuine passion for supporting children with unique learning and emotional needs
Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or SEN is highly desirable (training can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
