About the Role We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Bingley. This role involves supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them to access education, communication and care in a safe, nurturing environment.
This is a highly rewarding, hands-on role and applicants must be comfortable providing personal care and supporting pupils with complex physical, medical and sensory needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
Support pupils with personal care, including toileting, feeding and changing, ensuring dignity at all times
Assist with mobility, positioning and specialist equipment (training provided)
Support sensory-based learning activities and communication strategies
Promote pupils’ emotional wellbeing, engagement and independence
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and medical professionals
Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs (desirable)
A caring, patient and flexible approach
Confidence and willingness to carry out personal care duties
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
