Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care in an acute care environment. The RN is accountable for delivering coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence‑based quality care to patients and families, based on individualized physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Essential functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit‑specific onboarding checklist and in the standards applicable to the specialty.
- Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- BSN in Nursing preferred.
- Any newly licensed RN who has completed the NLRN Program may be accepted even with less than one year of experience.
- Specialty certification preferred.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS unit dependent.
- PALS unit dependent.
The RN must be a registered nurse currently licensed in the state of employment with at least one year of experience. Alternately, if the RN has less than one year of experience, they may have been transitioned to the position from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program. Must maintain BLS certification. ACLS is unit dependent. Nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment are determined by the Nursing Department and Nursing Unit.
EssentialFunctions
- Employ nursing professional practice: assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Develop updates and coordinate the patient’s plan of care to achieve patient goals and optimize outcomes across the continuum.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Perform and maintain the currency of essential competencies as required by a specific area of hire and population served.
- Advocate effectively for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of those we serve.
- Facilitate learning: foster a learning environment for patients/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team, including students.
- Align practice with safety and quality: accountable for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence and best practice into nursing care; use data and evidence to improve patient outcomes.
- Engage in professional development and promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates, and disseminates research and evidence‑based practice.
- Demonstrate leadership as change agents using collaborative leadership skills of advocacy, influence, and innovation.
- Model professional behaviors and participate in planning and presentation of educational programs.
- Proficiency in information technology, such as electronic health records, communication systems, computers, and equipment necessary to perform essential functions.
- Work effectively with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
- Use independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude.
- Manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations effectively.
The pay range for this position is $39.00 – $54.12 per hour.
