About the Role:

United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring a Staff Registered Nurse, Operating Room to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. The Operating Room Nursing Team is a cohesive, skilled, supportive group. The OR nurses must be agile and adaptable to working with different teams of surgeons.

This group gives nurses a lot of exposure to other units within the hospital!

Schedule
: 1 weekend per month (which is a shift Saturday and a shift Sunday, with a shift of call to follow each)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Maintaining patient safety and advocating for patients
• Surgical counts, specimen handling/labeling/transporting
• Monitoring vital signs and responding rapidly when necessary
• Administering medications and providing patient education

Qualifications:

• A valid NY RN license
• ACLS preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Previous General OR experience required
• Previous experience in Neuro and/or Cardio OR highly preferred

Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated. Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting. Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants. PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by Infection Control policies

Compensation
: $40.70-$61.056 per hour, depending on experience.

Sign-On Bonus
: this unit qualifies for a sign-on bonus up to $15,000.
