The Broome County Arts Council is seeking a motivated professional to serve as its part-time Development Coordinator (DC) to support its fundraising and grant development efforts. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, crafting compelling narratives, and helping sustain the arts through philanthropic and public funding.
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) and working closely with the Broome County Arts Council team, the Development Coordinator supports donor management, grants, and fund development by coordinating the master grants calendar, preparing proposals and reports, and assisting the Board, particularly the Fund Development Committee, with year-round fundraising initiatives. The role assists in cultivating and securing support for BCAC’s annual operations and the United Cultural Fund campaign through drafting correspondence and grant proposals, conducting research, coordinating meetings and events, engaging community stakeholders, and tracking pledges and gifts.
Position Status: Part Time
Hours: 15-18 hours per week
Salary Range: $17-18 per hour, dependent on experience
Location: Hybrid or in person (Broome County, NY)
Reports to: Executive Director
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Research, track, and draft grant applications and reports
- Maintain donor records in the donor database (ELEO) to track donor relationships
- Coordinate with Marketing to ensure promised sponsor/funder recognition is fulfilled and documented
- Draft donor communications, appeal letters, and stewardship materials
- Work with ED and Marketing to implement direct mail campaigns (i.e., updating letters, sponsor benefits, compiling mailing lists, and mail merges)
- Support the planning and follow-up for fundraising events and initiatives, including online campaigns
- Track fundraising goals and prepare reports for ED and the Fund Development Committee
- Collaborate with staff and Board members on development strategies
- Assist the ED in soliciting and securing annual sponsorship support
- Identify and assist in cultivating new corporate, foundation, and professional revenue opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Maintains professional conduct/image at all times while representing BCAC.
- 1-2 years of experience in an entry-level development role or equivalent nonprofit research/support role
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; able to communicate effectively and professionally via email, phone, and in-person
- Strong attention to detail with solid project management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Critical and creative thinker, aware of current trends and best practices
- Organized self-starter with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, Board members, and volunteers
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Workspace, and Zoom
