The Production Planner is responsible to plan and control appropriate levels of inventory investment to support production while achieving revenue, on-time delivery and inventory turn goals. Also responsible to expedite material to support production and new product development activities in the Binghamton plant. Responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of work in process to support production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and release orders to production to support the monthly output plan.
- Work closely with own and other department personnel to determine ongoing planning needs as well as production schedule changes.
- Serve as an interface to sales and new product development teams for related product.
- Responsible for MRP compliance and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
- Resolve supply and delivery issues when necessary and work within Materials team to ensure materials are expedited.
- Take occasional project team roles as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/BA degree OR equivalent experience of 3-5 years in a planning, buying or scheduling role in a production environment in support of complex components, fabrications and machined parts.
- Professional certifications are desired in APICS/ISM, CPIM, CPM, CSCP.
- Experience with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing, and certification in these areas is a plus
- Experience with Oracle MRP system
- Understanding and use of contracts/supply agreements
- Experienced in interpretation of specifications to support decision making relative to placement of work with appropriate sources of supply
- Experience using a MRP system for planning and tracking inventory.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills and must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and work well within a team environment.
- They must have strong skills and abilities in negotiation, teamwork, innovation, follow up and change management.
- Desired candidate will have demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects to closure.
