Location: Binghamton, NY (2 Days a week)

Employment Type: 6 Month+ Contract

We are seeking a seasoned leader to join our Company as a Consultant and direct our Tier 2 and Tier 3 Network Engineers of our Client. They are a leader in the Healthcare/Hospital Industry and have locations throughout the Tri‑State area. This position is a perfect fit for a Former Senior Network Engineer looking to move into management or a Project Manager with a deep technical background in IT infrastructure.

You will oversee daily operations, troubleshoot complex escalations, and spearhead high‑impact infrastructure projects.

• Team Leadership:
  Direct a team of senior engineers, managing workloads, professional development, and technical mentorship.
• Operational Excellence:
  Oversee the stability and performance of a complex campus‑based network, including high‑availability data centers and multiple remote branch locations.
• Project Governance:
  Lead the planning and execution of network upgrades, refreshes, and security implementations, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Vendor & Budget Management:
  Manage relationships with ISPs and hardware vendors (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Extreme, etc.) and assist in the annual IT infrastructure budget planning.
• Compliance & Security:
  Ensure the network meets stringent healthcare regulatory standards (HIPAA/HITECH) and maintain a robust security posture across all firewalls and endpoints.

The ideal candidate will have "hands‑on‑keyboard" history or deep architectural knowledge in:

Route & Switch, OSPF/BGP, VLAN management, and Layer 3 core switching in a campus environment. Datacenter, High‑availability (HA) design, Nexus switching, Virtualization integration, Wireless, Enterprise‑grade Wi‑Fi, Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Mobile medical carts support, Guest services, Security, Next‑Gen Firewalls (NGFW), VPNs, Network Access Control (NAC), Cisco ISE.

• Experience:
  
  7+ years in Network Engineering with at least 2+ years in a lead, supervisory, or project management capacity.
• Background:
  Proven track record in large‑scale infrastructure environments. Healthcare experience is a significant plus due to the unique demands of 24/7/365 "mission‑critical" uptime.
• Technical Proficiency:
  Strong familiarity with Cisco ecosystems, Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls, and monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds, PRTG).
• Soft Skills:
  
  Exceptional ability to translate complex technical issues into "business speak" for hospital leadership.
• Education/
  
  Certifications:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field. CCNP, PMP, or ITIL certifications are highly preferred.
