Position Overview:
Under direct supervision, HCA seeks a part-time 20-hour compassionate and dedicated worker to help care for the developmentally disabled. Provide education, instruction, direct services, and supports to empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and to live as optimally as possible. Facilitate community inclusion, integration and relationship building.

Personal Care- Performs/teaches and reinforces accepted infection control assists in toileting.
- Assist in keeping individual clean.
- Administers individuals first aid treatments.
- Maintains confidentiality of information.
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each individual.
- Ensure a person centered approach is used in all aspects of service delivery.
- Ensure goals reflected in an individual’s plan are addressed and worked on with the individual.
- Assist individuals in performing activities of daily living with as much independence as possible.
- Assist in the development of social skills by providing education, training, and role modeling.
- Act as advocate for consumers. Encourage self-advocacy and choices.
- Prepare and maintain records of individual’s progress and services performed, reporting changes in an individual’s condition to manager or supervisor.
- Ensure safety and well-being of consumers at all times.
- Ensure open communication with caregivers and management regarding any problems or issue that arises.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associates Degree in relevant field and a minimum of 1 year experience.
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years experience.
- Must maintain all required training and certifications CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Good verbal, written, interpersonal, organization and active listening skills.
- Good organizational & time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task. Good collaboration skills.
- Problem solving skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds force constantly to move objects.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch and bend.
- Fingering is required regularly for typing and the use of hands in a repetitive motion.
- Regularly required to talk and hear with the ability to exchange and receive detailed information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screens.
- Required to function around disabled individuals.
- Working conditions of this position do not substantially expose workers to adverse environmental conditions and are typical of an indoor work environment.
