Wellness Specialist – Grade 7+ (FLSA Non‑Exempt)Salary: $18.00‑$20.26 per hour.
I. Qualifications- Associate’s degree in health or human service field preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience working with individuals living with a mental health condition.
- Experience with individuals who have a mental health diagnosis preferred.
- Basic knowledge of coping skills, self‑help techniques, and mental health service delivery systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to verbally engage individuals.
- Assertive advocacy for individuals and negotiation with service providers.
- Capacity to teach skills to individuals, small groups, and facilitate group meetings.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for individuals.
- Capacity to physically climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Legal operation of a vehicle in NY State with a good driving record.
- Implement a blended model of support that integrates social engagement, immediate needs assessment, on‑site advocacy, and meaningful activities for individuals facing mental and behavioral health challenges.
- Actively participate in community events, recreational activities, transport responsibilities, and provide hands‑on timely interventions to support individuals in their recovery journey.
- Facilitate a holistic approach to wellness by combining social activities, on‑site support, and community advocacy to enhance mental and behavioral health.
- Actively participate in community events, including tabling and rallies, to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and connect individuals with vital resources.
- Organize and lead wellness workshops and recreational activities for groups that foster social connections, personal growth, and recovery.
- Provide on‑site support as needed, offering guidance, resources, and crisis intervention for individuals seeking assistance.
- Oversee, model, and teach daily living and work‑skills such as meal prep, laundry, cash register, maintenance, and cleaning.
- Advocate for individuals facing mental health challenges, ensuring access to necessary resources and fostering a supportive community environment.
- Transport individuals for grocery shopping, recreation, and essential appointments to DSS or other important services, as needed.
- Mentor individuals in recovery, supporting their resilience and encouraging healthy coping strategies while serving as a positive role model.
