The Permitting Specialist supports PTAG’s Power projects in Binghamton, NY, helping drive project excellence, collaborate with industry leaders, and ensure high-quality outcomes across complex initiatives.

In This Role, You Will
- Review project scope and determine applicable permits, including municipal building permits, variances, special use permits, agency streams, wetlands, PSC Article VII or Part 102, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with Siting Counsel, Army Corps, Natural Heritage or SHPO consultations, coastal zone development, DOT, FAA, and other agencies.
- Develop or coordinate the development of the required environmental permits.
- Manage progress against plans, perform risk assessments, and mitigate risks.
- Verify project adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements.
- Participate in project teams and regular planning, execution, and delivery team meetings.
- Represent the company at public or regulatory meetings.
- Review and comment on proposed laws and regulations as they apply to company operations.
- Manage or oversee implementation and inspection of wildlife, agriculture or wetland mitigation/management plans and other regulatory requirements of permits extending beyond construction.
- Develop or oversee SWPPP development and inspections.
- Escalate issues when necessary.
- Conduct SWPPP inspections and oversee contracted SWPPP inspectors or environmental monitors at construction projects.
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- 5-7 years of experience obtaining Environmental Regulatory Permits with state, federal and municipal agencies to meet project goals and schedules.
- Experience drafting, editing, and interpreting studies for development, submission, and acquisition of regulatory filings.
- Experience working in a team environment to site facilities in the energy sector, minimizing environmental, visual and customer impacts while meeting business requirements.
- B.S. in Environmental Engineering or related field.
- PE Preferred
- MBA Preferred
- PMP Preferred
- Experience in the functional area under which the contract will be performed:
Substations, T&D, Gas-Hydro, and OSG.
